 Linda Woodard
Publisher/Editor of WomenSpeak
Celebrating the wonder of women's woven lives.

The Beginning
To satisfy my journalistic education and creative abilities, I wanted to provide a publication that celebrated and honored the every day lives of women, so in February 2005, Giving Voice was created. Over a thousand copies were circulated throughout London. There was such a great response and I was encouraged to keep it going. The second edition followed in April 2005 with 1,000 copies circulated. Last August things changed. My vision grew stronger and it became apparent a magazine such as this was needed. The title was changed to WomenSpeak in order to signify what the magazine was about.

Now
WomenSpeak is a bi-monthly magazine that celebrates the wonder in women's woven lives. Women are showcased in stories that honor and celebrate their experiences in personal and professional aspects with a focus on empowering women and celebrating their achievements and victories.
Each issue features articles about artists/artisans, healers, spirituality and women and work, and at least one story about a community organization whose mandate is to help or improve the lives of women. Submissions from other women are also welcomed.
Three editions have been produced so far; October/November 2005, December 2005/January 2006, and February/March 2006. Five thousand copies were printed in the first and second edition and the third has over 10,000 copies printed. Response continues to grow and it is becoming quite popular in women's circles.
Many heartfelt thanks to all the extraordinary women in my life who have supported this birthing; I am forever grateful for your friendships.
